Aside from being the manufacturer of powerful, finely engineered motorcars, Mercedes-Benz also has a rich and respected tradition in producing buses, wagons and trucks. One of the legendary trucks produced between the years 1930 and 1936, was the Mercedes-Benz 200 Stuttgart L. Equipped with a 6-cylinder in-line 53 horsepower engine that displaced 3381 cc, it could attain speeds up to 68 kilometers per hour. The Stuttgart L was available in eight versions during those years (designated L-I through L-VIII), and they were used for a wide range of activities - from commercial trucks to civic service duties, such as ambulance and fire brigades. One important truck in a fire department's fleet was a Spotlight/Generator truck. Equipped with powerful spotlights, the trucks were essential in helping fire fighters direct their activities to the most crucial places in a blaze. Also, the portable generator was needed to power a variety of pumps delivering the water to the hoses and water guns of the brigade.
